Caring For Your Reusable Menstrual Products

Taking care of your menstrual cups and Love Lunas correctly will insure they will give you a long-life cycle. Making sure that your products are clean and sterile for every wear will help prevent bacteria and other nasties from entering your system. Proper care will prolong the life of your reusable menstrual products, making your cups last the full 10 years. 
 
Remember to always wash your reusable period products before your first wear!
 


Caring for you Love Lunas:
Start by rinsing them in cold water until the water runs clear.
Pop them into a washing machine either on their own or with like colours, with a little bit of detergent, on a cold-water wash.
Hang them out to line dry.
Do not pop these in the dryer, soak, or use softeners or bleach, as these can damage the protective layers
 
Caring for your reusable cloth pads:
Rinse in cold water until the water runs clear.
If you need to, you can soak your pad in lukewarm water for up to 30 minutes to help remove stains.
Place your reusable pad into a delicates bag, and add into a cold water machine wash alone, or with like colours.
Line dry out in the sun.
Do not put these in the dryer, or use bleach or softeners, as this can destroy the waterproof layer.
 


Caring for your menstrual cups on the go:
Empty your cup of all liquid.
Wash your cup under some running water with a mild cup cleaner, such as the MyCup Menstrual Cup Wash, using your fingers to gently scrub the cup as you go.
Give it a quick pat dry, and you can re-insert your cup to continue your day worry free.
At the end of your period, make sure to follow these steps to clean your cup properly, and then sterilise your cup using the Milton Mini Sterilising Tablets.
 
Caring for your menstrual cup at home:
Empty your cup of all liquid.
Wash your cup under some running water with a mild cup cleaner, such as the MyCup menstrual cup wash, using your fingers to gently scrub the cup as you go.
Sterilise your cup using the Milton Mini Sterilising Tablets.
Dissolve the tablet into a jar of water that is filled enough to cover the entire cup.
Add your cup into the jar and leave for 15 minutes.
Let the cup air dry in the sun, and then pop it away in your MyCup bag or a storage container.
 


Removing stains from your reusable pads or menstrual cups:
Pop your reusable period product into a bucket or sink filled with 2 litres of cold water.
Agitate the water a bit to help loosen up any dried blood.
Let your reusable pad or cup soak for 15-30 minutes.
Empty the water, and re-fill with 2 litres of warm water.
Dissolve 2 tablespoons of the MyCup Cloth Pad and Menstrual Cup Stain Remover into the warm water.
Allow your reusable product to soak for another 15-30 minutes.
Wash your item as usual, per their care instructions.
Let your reusable products dry out in the sun.
